Job Description:

Could you be our next Assistant Accountant - Lease Accounting?

As the Assistant Accountant - Lease Accounting, you will support the management and reporting of financial impacts of new, renewed and amended leases in accordance with IFRS and GAAP accounting standards. What can you expect on a day-to-day basis?

  • Validating lease data and critical accounting attributes for new, renewed and amended leases, ensuring they meet the reporting requirements under US GAAP ASC 842 and IFRS 16.

  • Reviewing lease likely term to reflect the most UpToDate impact of business decisions and economic events on the leases and make necessary adjustments in the system

  • Participate in the month end process and recoined lease journal entries.

  • Management of balance sheet accounts including lease payments, Percentage rent, ROUA/liability and sub-ledger reconciliations.

  • Managing complex structure of percentage rent for lease portfolio

  • Payment and accrual of percentage rent

  • Completing monthly reporting.

  • Examining and analysing monthly lease expenses. Investigate material variance to add commentary in budgets

  • Reviewing of monthly lease payments to landlords.

  • Review ingindex adjustments issued for rent escalation in Tririga system and ensure the accuracy of future payments as well as accounting.

  • Responding to landlord queries regarding payments.

  • Reconciliation of landlord’s payment accounts.

  • Ad hoc analysis for key stakeholders including Commercial Finance, Tax and FP&A.

  • Annual and ad hoc reporting to the Corporate Controller Group.

  • Assisting the preparation of annual financial statements.

  • Ensuring SOX controls are met and adequate audit documentation is maintained.

  • Effectively use Tririga, the lease accounting management system.

  • Supporting ongoing enhancements to the Tririga system.

  • Supporting the relationship with both Real Estate and external stakeholders as required.


Additional Information:

Your keys to success:

  • Accounting Degree and studying CPA or CA

  • Strong understanding of Lease Accounting principles and reporting requirements under US GAAP ASC 842 and IFRS 16

  • Experience of using Tririga or some other lease accounting software

  • Ability to work with integrated systems

  • Displays a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in work

  • Strong time management and prioritisation skill

  • Excellent analytical skills and inquisitive mindset

  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to engage with others and build effective relationships

  • Flexible and adaptive to change

  • Actively seeks and accepts constructive feedback to build skills and competencies
