Job Description:

This role requires the incumbent to be located in Iowa and travel between Ames, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Coralville. The HR Consultant focuses on the execution of People processes and tools in assigned Profit Center(s). They are responsible for advising and providing direction to Operations Manager(s), Operations Supervisors and Restaurant Staff on HR-related issues. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with Operations Manager(s) to identify key people priorities across the regional profit center(s), helping to execute the people action plan aligned with the national people strategy

  • Contribute to the execution of the region’s people plan

  • Provide coaching, training, counsel, and direction to operations team members

  • Assist people leaders and restaurant managers in conducting on-boarding/ orientation and exit/off-boarding

  • Partner with operations team members to deliver on all aspects of staffing, performance management, and retention

  • Maintain required employee documentation and files

  • Oversee restaurant crew performance appraisals, wage management, restaurant-level benefits, incentives, awards and performance standards

  • Manage leaves of absence and worker's compensation cases

  • Conduct disciplinary actions, including terminations

  • Lead the people aspect of restaurant divestitures/acquisitions

  • Educate and inform restaurants to execute and comply with people initiatives and tools

  • Promote employee engagement and commitment programs

  • Effectively anticipate restaurant management needs (workforce planning), helping operations team members and general managers develop and execute a plan

  • Assist with succession planning, including coaching and advising partners to ensure a robust talent pipeline to meet the needs of the restaurants

  • Develop employees, including General Managers and District Managers

  • Partner with HR Managers and Employee Relations COE to ensure employee engagement initiatives are effectively executed including (but not limited to) investigations into potential violations.

  • Support practices that provide a fair, equitable, and respectful work environment

  • Assist in deploying change initiatives through education and training for operations staff and restaurant management

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of HR Generalist experience is required

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred

  • Field HR experience is preferred
