We are currently looking for a Supervisor,International Public Affairs to be based in our Brussels (Diegem) office. We seek someone who shows passion, energy, excitement and enthusiasm working for our international policy team at McDonald’s.

An important driver of a unified corporate relations function (including communications, public affairs, and government affairs), this role requires a strong understanding of the key reputational and regulatory issues that McDonald’s faces.

With a focus on European markets, the position reports to the Manager, International Public Affairs, based in Brussels. The position works closely with the broader Global Policy and Engagement team, and Corporate Relations colleagues in markets around the world, particularly with the EU Public Affairs Director who is also based in Brussels. This role will specifically focus on researching, analyzing, and synthesizing information issues on a global scale to make business recommendations and drive action at the corporate and market levels. He/she will also engage with Brussels-based stakeholders and work with trade associations on behalf of the company.

EXPERIENCE

To accomplish the above, it is important that the successful candidate has:

·At least a Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of related experience in Public Affairs/Public Policy. Familiarity with issues related to McDonald’s preferred

·An ability and strong motivation to understand McDonald’s business, influence, and internal structure – become involved in the business with strong relationship building, collaboration and influencing skills.

·Strong written, verbal, and analytical skills in English. Ability to translate complex information into concepts that are more easily understood and clearly

articulates its impact on the bottom line.

·Proven project management skills.

·Experience in drafting media statements and/or talking points for senior leaders preferred.

·Experience in stakeholder engagement is a plus.

·Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Assist managing our global monitoring system of external political, stakeholder, societal and other developments and trends

Research, analyze, quantify, and prioritize reputational and regulatory issues to develop briefings and business plans

Support EU Public Affairs Director on advocacy projects

Draft reports, talking points, media statements

Manage the issues management IT platform

Communicate with the service provider to ensure requirements are being met

Work with internal teams to ensure the right information is integrated into the platform at the right time

General cleanup, maintenance, and other administrative issues (non-technical)

Coordinate the development of a global issues monitoring and tracking system.

Help integrate a mix of monitoring tools into IPA

Manage administrative issues related to this tracking system

Work with markets to gather intelligence, coordinate actions and develop tools to support markets

Review issue management system and propose options for continuous improvement
